EMOTIQUON are an unsigned electro/house band from Ayrshire in
Scotland.

The synthesizer-crazed duo (Shaun Dimensional & James Mechanoid) met
whilst training as double-decker bus drivers in Glasgow, learning only
of each other's electronic music interests whilst passing under a low
bridge at a terrifyingly high speed.

Starting off with some basic equipment and a laptop computer,
Emotiquon gathered their ideas over long sessions in front of flashing
lights and cult television comedy shows. Connecting their powerful
brains together (using two metal collanders, a car battery, some jump
leads and a food blender), the two began to edit their recordings down
to manageable pop-sized chunks of audio colour.

Emotiquon pursue a love of hypnotic melodies, complex drum rhythms,
and rolling bass lines. Scattering samples from their favourite
television programs and films throughout their music, they come across
as comedic, upbeat, and rather silly.

Influences come from a love of 80's electronic pop, to modern electro
artists such as Justice & Aphex Twin. With a dash of rock & dub thrown
in for spice!

They have remixed several signed artists, including Enter Shikari,
Heaven 17, The Go! Team, & Dr Rubberfunk.

Featuring live bands who had performed at The Wickerman Festival, and DJ sets from Modifier, Glasgow based club "One More Tune", infamous Ayr DJs Jamie & Rab (ex-Powerhouse/Fury's Saturdays), the Wickerman Psy-Trance duo, and some excellent independent DJs...

The party went down an absolute storm!

Decorated by The Wickerman Festival set decorators, the barn boasted an array of gigantic plastic flowers, ethnic African statues, a HUGE backlit projection screen, antique baroque hanging lanterns and strobe lights. It looked AMAZING!!!

The crowd were a select group of about 70-100 festival friends and revellers, all of whom brought their own energy and independence to the party. Dancing continuously from 9PM until 10AM the next morning, they showed absolutely NO restraint. There will be many stories and tales told about this party for years to come, and the party promises to develop into a full-blown festival in it's own right!

Sit back and enjoy the NEW EMOTIQUON RAVE EXPERIENCE!!!

See the pictures soon at:

  www.myspace.com/emotiquon

  www.bebo.com/emotiquonbebo

And BE SURE TO STAY TUNED FOR MORE PARTY INFORMATION...

Send an email with your name and contact info to:

emotiquon@mail2electron.com

And get on the list!!!

EMOTIQUON'S FIRST EVER VIDEO PODCASTIQUON!!!

PART ONE "UPHILL STRUGGLE"

After winning the Bebo/Altitude Festival 2008 band competition, Emotiquon travel to Meribel in The French Alps to support Grand National on the main stage...

The journey does not go quite as expected! Emotiquon are rather silly.

This video podcast documents James Mechanoid & Shaun Dimensional's preposterous trip from Schiphol International Airport, to Meribel in the French Alps... home of The Altitude Festival 2008!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, The Altitude Festival was by FAR the best organisation, promotion and management of an event which we've ever had the pleasure to experience!!! We were treated like ROYALTY, and we'll NEVER forget the event, or the wonderful and enthusiastic people whom we met!

Here's our BLOGIQUON describing our experience upon arriving at The Altitude Festival (The 1st EVER Alpine comedy festival)!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JAMES MECHANOID:

Upon leaving Geneva, we meet our driver Matthew, and our new friend Paul (he's a surgeon with a talent for partying). You may not know that I have a weird fascination with PYLONS! Amazed at how the electricity pylons are clinging precariously to the mountainside through Switzerland to France... Pylonmania!!! How the hell did they put them up? Scenery was astounding... second to none... awe inspiring... Keep goin up & up... think you're nearly at your destination, but then you go up AGAIN.... Climbing to the top of the world!

Hairpin bend after hairpin bend... YEEHAA!!!

Halfway up the mountain the rain turns to blizzard and everything is just SNOW... We're in the domain of where aeroplanes fly! First time in France... Best first impression ever!

When we finally arrive, it's like Gingerbread Village covered in icing! Like a mad fantasy Christmasland: stereotypically Alpine... Much bigger than I thought it was going to be...

Hotel L'Eterlou is perfect.... Brilliant view with a balcony. Staff are really amused with our Scottish demeanour.... There's a sauna, heated outdoor swimming pool (which we didn't get a chance to use because we were so busy!!!) Lots of up and down hill walks around to keep our circulation going, great fun, climate was surprisingly mild albeit it is april after all,but all around is snow and ice and its warm enough to be jumping around on ski's in a t shirt.... wacky!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SHAUN DIMENSIONAL:

Woah!!! Yeah, this place is amazing. It's like a dream. But we haven't got time to settle down yet, it's 20:30 and we're onstage at 23:30!!!

After being greeted by comedian Lee Mack, we run down to the Big Top (a huge blue tent filled with people, comedians and musicians and a very large crowd of revellers) with all of our bags. We meet Emily (a very pretty girl with long dark hair; she's in charge of managing the whole festival), who introduces us to the fantastical Albane (a very pretty little French girl who knows how to run a show professionally)!

We meet up in the VIP lounge, get some drinks and record a video introduction with one of the festival directors, Christian... Then we relax with some top quality stand-up comedy with Rich Hall (The 11 O' Clock Show, QI, Nevermind The Buzzcocks, Otis Lee Crenshaw etc)...

And before we know it, it's time to perform... Introduced onstage by hilarious comedian Andre Vincent (who works with Phil Jupitus & Marcus Brigstock as part of the Improv. All Stars)

The show is a blinder, with the incredible band Grand National (whom we're supporting) egging us on to play for longer... We get an extended set, thanks to Albane & the brilliant sound and lighting engineers, and manage to get the crowd wired for the main act...

Grand National!!! The guys are incredible live, performing tracks from the new album "A Drink And A Quick Decision" and from their debut album "Kicking The National Habit", intersecting songs with references to classic tracks like New Order's "Blue Monday" and The Beloved's "Sweet Harmony", amongst others! They have the energy and vibe of an electro club night, exhibiting phenomenal live bass and percussion, Euan's driven rhythm guitars, with Rupert's perfect guitar melodies and Lawrence's ethereal vocals! Lawrence really knows how to get a crowd wound up, with some excellent stage banter and excited exclamations!!!

The crowd are bouncing around all over the place, and it looks as if the whole tent might take off!!!

And then it's down to Dick's Bar for the Ministry Of Sound DJ's and a whole lot of Alpine Hedonism. I get a filmed interview from the Ministry Of Sound TV guys, a free CD from DJ Richard Murray, meet two beautiful girls from Glasgow (friends of Johnny Whoop!) and then collapse in a heap of blissed out exhaustion!!!

Time for bed!

Tomorrow is SKI DAY!!!

EMOTIQUON LIVE @ TRONIC XMAS PARTY 2007:

Playing their first ever live gig, ' Emotiquon' seem to be another hidden gem within the Scottish electronic scene. Hailing from Ayrshire the synth crazed duo will be bringing their unique blend of electro house, or "Wobblecore" to the Tronic night.

With an impressive collection of fun and uplifting tracks Emotiquon have been featured in a high profile advertisement (X Box game Viva Piniata featured "Jalepeno Sugarburst") and also on a compilation with Petrol Records (their track "Tokyo Bass Exchange" featured). Emotiquon's eclectic sound frequently contains samples from their favourite television programs and films, and can come across as comedic, upbeat, and rather silly.

Expect to see a band thats not scared to experiment with some stranger sounds and rhythms, and will no doubt uplift the spirits for all lovers of electronic music on the night.

  http://www.myspace.com/emotiquon

     LIVE REVIEW (BY US)!!!

  Current mood: accomplished

  Category : Parties and Nightlife

Thanks to everybody who attended the FANTASTIC Tronic Xmas Party bash last Friday (21st Dec 2007)!!!

It was our first official Emotiquon gig, and it went down a storm. We ended up headlining, thanks to Satellite Dub who preferred to play in front of a slightly larger audience before us!

Opening the event were the incredible Deltason! With an incredibly precise (and very tall) LIVE DRUMMER, a DJ, and Mr Deltason himself operating more bleepmachines than one could hope to shake a lightning rod at, the group performed impeccably. Blending rock groove with abstract ambient electronica, their sound was reminiscent of Boards Of Canada, Autechre, and The Orb.

They were followed by the untouchable Scottish pioneer of chiptune, Firebrand Boy! I've never seen anything more entertaining than a solo performer raving his arse off whilst clinging onto a Nintendo Gameboy!!! I don't know what he's done to his wee gamebox, but he managed to squeeze more rave out of it than a melon filled with ecstasy in a foodblender. In fact, he had TWO Gameboys. And his trick is his secret.

Master Satellite Dub was nothing short of speakercrushing. Huge basslines, filthy rolling melodies, and drum parts that shook the Glasgow Clockwork Orange completely off it's rails (miles away, under the ground, on the opposite side of the Clyde! (reports of said incident have been silenced by the Glasgow City Council)

And finally, ourselves! EMOTIQUON! Before going onstage, I whispered to James Mechanoid that at every previous gig with my other bands, there was always an unexplained technical hitch as soon as we got onstage. Said hitch resulted in absolutely NO SOUND whatsoever for at least 2 minutes whilst the audience stared (unimpressed) waiting for the music. He laughed. It happened.

And then, on with the show. Miraculously, not a single technical hitch occured throughout the set, given the sheer amount of processing power and audio samples demanded from our little MacBook. The machine performed without glitch and with more glimmer than a Christmas mirrorball. I will swear by my MacBook for every performance.

We put a lot of work and practice into our performance before the night. And it really paid off. Now we have the bug. We'll be incorporating our electronic drum kit, more keyboards, and perhaps a live bassist in the future. But at the heart of it all will be our beloved MacBook running Ableton LIVE!

BELOW IS A SHORT VIDEO CLIP FROM THE GIG:
